We are so grateful for all of the families who make up our close-knit Kirby Hall School community. One of those families is the Scotts (James, Abigail, Davidson & Claudia)–as lovingly illustrated here by our KHS student Davidson. Learn more about their experiences and why they chose Kirby Hall for their child’s elementary school education in this month’s family feature:
How many students do you have who attend Kirby Hall?
One in Kindergarten.
How long have you been at Kirby Hall?
A little more than a year.
How did you hear about Kirby Hall?
We learned about Kirby Hall from a friend whose children attended and loved it!
What do you love most about Kirby Hall?
We love how happy Davidson is to go to school in the morning! He’s always excited about what he will learn and do and loves telling us about his day when he comes home. We also love how the small class sizes mean that children have opportunities both to learn beyond grade level in subjects they excel at and to dedicate time to things they maybe don’t naturally gravitate towards. We feel really connected to the learning experience because the teachers are incredibly committed to the students, and communication between parents and teachers is really strong.
What is one word you would use to describe Kirby Hall?
Vibrant!
What are some special experiences you or your child has had from school here?
There are so many! From the Fall drama performances to the Spring art walk to the many dances, parties, and field trips throughout the year. But I think Davidson would say his favorite so far has been the opportunity to participate in the annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration, which was a beautiful and vivacious celebration of Spanish language and Hispanic culture.
What would you tell a friend about Kirby Hall?
Kirby Hall has such a strong community feel. This is partly because its small size allows all of the kids to get to know each other, but also because the faculty and staff do an excellent job of bringing students and parents together through field trips, special events, the school garden, school sports programs, school assemblies, and opportunities to help out in the classroom.
What sets Kirby Hall apart from other schools?
Kirby Hall offers accelerated learning experiences in a nurturing and supportive environment. Children are entrusted with high expectations for their behavior and responsibility for their learning, but they are also encouraged to be creative, kind, and to have fun!
Thank you to the Scotts for sharing their thoughts on why they love Kirby Hall! We are so appreciative of all that their family brings to our community!
