Kirby Hall School is excited to announce the establishment of a new parent/student mentor community known as the Kirby Hall Mind Share Program.
The intent of the program is to pair Middle and Upper School students with Kirby Hall parents who are accomplished in their chosen fields. Students are encouraged to reach out to these parents to learn more about industries that may be of interest to them.
We are thrilled to have a number of parents eager to volunteer their time and expertise in mentoring students as they begin to explore future careers and fields of study.
Mind Share parents represent a variety of industries including: television and film production, epidemiology research, software engineering and development, chip design and circuitry, pharmacology and healthcare, and power grid management. We even have a published poet available to coach students in the field of creative writing.
Participation in this program affords our older students the opportunity to develop interpersonal skills, try their hand at networking, practice drafting cover letters and professional communications, and learn how to schedule a meeting.
Currently students are reaching out to parents to coordinate virtual meetings. It is our hope that in the fall we may be able to conduct in-person meetings that could eventually pave the way for career shadow days or possible internships.
The Kirby Hall School Mind Share program is under the direction of the Dean of Curriculum, Ms. Allie Thrall, and the Dean of Middle and Upper Schools, Dr. Bradley King.
Kirby Hall parents interested in becoming Mind Share mentors are invited to contact [email protected].
